Things aren't right, Without enough light, I know, The plants won't grow, But, what about Human, Do we need to let the light in? When I'm there standing, Among the planting, I come to an understanding -- It's enlightening. The light ray, Has a way, Of removing black and blues, Like a dose of good news, The light makes me shine, ... makes me feel real fine. When the days grow darker, I have withdrawal from the sun, It gets harder and harder, To find the fun, So, I stand in the green, And, lean... Toward the light, Helping my spirit feel alright!
NOTES
Light therapy is a relatively new area of scientific and medical
study. However, throughout time, many civilizations have found
the benefits of light.
One of the ways your body processes vitamin D is through light and your skin.
People predisposed to "jet lag" find wearing special light emitting glasses helps their body-clock adjust to long flights.
And, everyone knows it's easier to feel blue on a gray day. So, enlighten yourself with some light! (But, please remember -- avoid sunburn. Too much of anything is usually not a good thing.)
In the winter time, you can hang-up some inexpensive "emergency / space" blankets. By using energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, you can create your own little oasis.
If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, try putting a light on a timer and set it to turn on about 1/2 hour before you are suppose to wake up.
