Biography: Making A Choice

A lot went on during this part of my life. The things I saw and the people I met, to this day have a strong influence over who I am. Around 92-93, I was running around with some Russians… painters and ballet dancers. By way of these friendships, an opportunity to exhibit in Moscow was presented to me. This was early fall 1993. On my last night in Moscow, I was taken on a tour of the city. The monuments, the university, important architecture, etc. All lit and very beautiful. As I think back on that night, I remember seeing many road blocks — exactly the image I had of Russia. I am a child of the 60’s, and after all, I was in “THE EVIL EMPIRE”. What was so strange that night was that we never drove up to a road block, we either turned right or left. It didn’t matter witch way or whether we had to drive over curbs. We just turned away from them. We were not chased or followed one time that night! We saw those roadblocks and changed course well before we came upon them. Our choice of left or right was not as important as the fact that we made a choice.
