Tell me what's your favorite toy.... All right! Tell me what's your private joy.... All right! There's a way to tell if you're gonna be right I don't have to say what the way is gonna be like But anything you want to try is cool, to me, it's all right All right!.... All right! Show me what's your favorite toy.... All right! Show me what's your private joy.... All right! Ever wonder why people put you in the spotlight? It's a simple thing, everything you do gets them uptight O.K. guess we're gonna have to find a way to make it all right All right!.... All right! Tell me who's your favorite toy.... All right! Tell me who's your favorite boy.... All right! If it's me, hey I want to be something more than midnight Ain't it fun, number one, but you know you ought to do it right Anything you want to try is cool, to me, it's all right All right!.... All right! |

The lyrics have no particular meaning outside of representing vaguely freeform teenage sexual imagery and ethic. Even though the song was performed by many different bands over the years, it was always played exactly the same way because the drummer and singer was always Peter Cross. Favorite Toy was recorded first by Steam, later by two different versions of Magic, and for the last time in 1995 by Peter Cross and Crossfire (whoever happens to be playing tracks for Peter Cross on each song). In 1995, it was a dead song because the first three versions are devoid of feeling and pathetic in terms of singing, playing, and recording (what else is there?), and also because Peter Cross had stopped playing drums due to a terminal case of tendonitis. Favorite Toy was resurrected because Maverick and the Belchmeister liked it best of all Peter Cross' songs. After telling the boys it couldn't be done, Peter found an old Record Plant master tape of the second Magic's version and it turned out that all the tracks were salvageable. Unfortunately, all the tracks stank except for the drums which were OK, not bad, could have been much better, but maybe not, considering the developing tendonitis and subsequent total bodily disappearance. Starting with the drum track, Peter and Timmy built-up the tracks again, and finished with Chris Stefanetti on six string bass guitar, electric piano, and Hammond organ. It took a lot of years to get this song right, too many actually, but it is perfect now, note for note. Hope you love it, boys. |
