Most of the multimedia files
on this site are labeled. They are marked with their size: 21K is smaller than
88K. 1M is much larger than 88K. The video file names also contain clues as to
their nature: the number in the file name is the screen size in pixels. So,
name080.avi will appear slightly larger than a postage stamp, while name320.avi will
appear in about half of your screen. (In general, Microsoft likes avi files,
and Apple likes mov files.) With both video and audio files, there will
usually be several choices. The larger files tend to be complete songs and videos.
The larger wav files are most often in hi-fidelity stereo. The smaller wav files are usually
mono "samples"... to give you a taste.
If you are unsure of your computer's ability to hear sound (wav files) or
see video (avi or mov files), you might want to try these simple tests.
The tests are made to be easy (quick) to download.
Should you get an error, write it down. Chances are 1 of 2 things:
- your computer isn't multimedia capable
- your browser isn't set-up to use your computer's software and hardware
